Yes, Serverless is about costs. Have an idea? Ready to do a Proof-of-Concept? But not that many funds - than Serverless is your choice. If your business rely on “pay as you go” charges for the customer - than Serverless is your choice. Need resilience and security and scalability out of box - than Serverless is your choice.

Zero-like costs

No need to pay for AWS EC2 instances if they are idle 90% of the time. Think about what actually your apps do. And if it is possible to decompose system into independent modules/Lamda functions. Most likely you have some logic to be moved to Serverless. And that’s a good choice.

API in the Cloud

API-only backend solutions benefits from Serverless architecture most. As AWS API gateway direct or delegate invocation events directly to AWS Lambda. AWS API is reliable, secure way to manage API. Having authorizers and validators produce native AWS solutions in one place - one the edge of your system.

Web portal in the Cloud

CMS, e-commerce, `my account` type of apps usually require stack of backend and frontend solutions. From the previous section, we already know how to build API solutions with Serverless. But you can use AWS Cloud capabilities to host Frontend code. AWS S3 + AWS CloudFront produce practical use case. For sure you’ll need to configure AWS Rote 53 and AWS Certificates but that’s should be easy and super fun.
